Joy Reid claimed that the Black Lives Matter movement has “never pushed for anything violent to happen to police,” according to the Daily Mail.

“The first time I ever heard of Black Lives Matter, they were chanting “pigs in a blanket” talking about police,” Trump said.

“Pigs, talking about our police.” “Pigs in a blanket, fry them like bacon.” I said that’s a horrible thing. And they were marching down the street. That was my first glimpse of Black Lives Matter.”

“I know a whole lot of people in Black Lives Matter, a whole lotta people who started it and who were leaders in it. Not a single person knows who those people were that started that chant. They were never connected to the march.”

Reid continued, there is “absolutely zero evidence’ that Black Lives Matter ‘had ever pushed for anything violent’ or ‘pushed for anything violent to happen to police.”

“They have never advocated violence against police,” she noted.

From The Daily Mail:

Trump’s comment came during the final presidential debate on Thursday in which the incumbent president faced off against Democratic challenger Joe Biden in Nashville, Tennessee.

Moderator Kristen Welker asked Trump whether describing the Black Lives Matter movement against the killing of black people by police as a symbol of hate actually contributed to ‘a climate of hate and racial strife.

In response, Trump pointed to an anti-police chant: ‘Pigs in a blanket, fry ’em like bacon’ that he claimed had been used by Black Lives Matter protesters.
