Former NCAA wrestler Alec Donovan has pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography.

Donovan had been a highly successful high school wrestler in New Jersey and was open about his sexuality.

He later coached at a wrestling club.

“I’ve done a lot of great things ever since I was suicidal,” Donovan said. “But yeah, helping other people makes me most proud.”

In 2021, he was found to have sent child pornography to young male victims online and requested nude photos from them.

He was sentenced to over 7 years in federal prison.

Some noted that focusing solely on affirming one’s sexuality does not constitute healing and can prevent moving beyond selfish desires, instead seeing others as objects for gratification.
