Disney faced backlash after apparent reports of a male performer dressed as the Evil Queen from Snow White greeting guests at its Wilderness Lodge resort in Florida.

Videos and accounts describe the performer having a distinctly male voice. While Disney assured one family the performer was a woman, managers refused to confirm the performer’s biological sex.

“It was kind of loud inside so I couldn’t really hear what the character was saying until I got face to face (typical conversation distance of a few feet) and then it hit me that the Evil Queen without a doubt had a man’s voice,” one father said.

This follows Disney’s history of embracing gender nonconformity in its children’s programming and parks, including drag performances, transgender characters, and removing gendered greetings.

Critics argue Disney has pushed an agenda of gender ideology onto content aimed at kids, while supporters view it as promoting inclusion.

The incident sparked debate around parental control over exposure to such issues.
