The meeting between former President Trump and Florida Governor DeSantis appears to have mended their strained relationship.

Trump wrote on his social media platform that they had a productive discussion at a Florida country club about working together to advance both Florida’s and the nation’s interests.

“I am very happy to have the full and enthusiastic support of Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida,” Trump wrote.

“We had a great meeting yesterday, arranged by mutual friend Steve Witkoff, at his beautiful Shell Bay Club in Hollywood, Florida,” he said.

Their conversation focused on uniting to support Republican candidates in the upcoming midterm elections.

“The conversation mostly concerned how we would work closely together to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” Trump wrote. “Also discussed was the future of Florida, which is FANTASTIC!”

“November 5th is a BIG DAY!!!” he said.

Speculation remains about DeSantis potentially being included as Trump’s vice presidential running mate in 2024 given his popularity among GOP donors, though Trump has also expressed interest in North Dakota’s governor filling that role.

“There is an incentive for DeSantis to form a closer relationship, as well,” the Post reported. “People close to DeSantis have said it is untenable for him to continue to have a strained relationship with Trump, particularly as he eyes his political future.”

“He is widely viewed among Republican donors and consultants as weakened after a shellacking by Trump in the primary,” the report noted.
