A Democratic congressional candidate in New York expressed support for Ukraine but also made controversial posts wishing death upon Trump supporters and calling for violence against political opponents.

When questioned, the candidate engaged in further hostile exchanges.

“Slava Ukraine,” Democrat candidate Nate McMurray wrote. “Die Maga. You lose.”

“What do you know about war, son?” Air Force veteran Buzz Patterson wrote

“OK Rambo. I’m glad you’re able to make a living off your military service. How’s your socialized pension?” McMurray said.

The interaction highlighted tensions surrounding a recently passed $60 billion aid package for Ukraine, which passed the House with bipartisan but not unanimous support.

“You’re running for Congress AND calling for half the country to be murdered? ” one X user wrote.

“Since you seem to support Ukraine more than you do the United States; why don’t you go over there and fight for them,” another wrote.

Some Republicans criticized the partisan displays by Democrats during the vote and called for a change in House GOP leadership.
