A male-born transgender golfer, Hailey Davidson, has won a women’s tournament in Florida and is pursuing membership as an LPGA competitor.

Davidson began hormone treatments in 2015 and underwent full gender reassignment surgery.

Despite claiming a loss of strength advantage, Davidson’s performance has sparked controversy due to concerns about fairness in women’s sports.

“I’ve worked the last five years to get every inch of muscle off of me,” Davidson said, “doing everything I could to make sure I would not stick out like a sore thumb.”

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova criticized Davidson’s campaign for women’s pro golf membership, stating that male bodies do not belong in women’s sports.

“This really needs to end sooner rather than later. Male bodies, however they might identify, do not belong in women’s sports!” Navratilova wrote.
