Montrezl Harrell, Who’s Amassed $35M in NBA Contracts, Arrested for Drug Trafficking

Montrezl Harrell, who plays for the NBA team the Charlotte Hornets, was arrested on felony drug charges after getting caught with three pounds of marijuana.

As a first-time offender, Harrell could face up to five years in prison for trafficking less than five pounds of marijuana, which is a Class D felony.

He could also be fined between $1,000 to $10,000.

After seven years in the NBA, Harrell has amassed $35 million in contracts.

After being stopped by a state trooper, Harrell admitted to carrying a small amount of weed.

However, after a search through Harrell’s Honda Pilot, authorities found much more.

His arraignment is scheduled this week.

The arrest occurred on May 12th arrest as he was traveling on the southbound I-75.

At 6-foot-7, Harrell averaged 11.4 points, two assists, and 4.9 rebounds a game this past season.

He was awarded the 2020 NBA Sixth Man of the Year.
