Massive Migrant Caravan, Possibly Largest Ever, On the Move in Mexico Toward US Border

Haitian migrants heading to the U.S. are demanding that Joe Biden “keeps his promise” and allows them to stay once they reach the border.

“He promised the Haitian community he will help them,” the migrants said, who were interviewed by Fox News Friday. “He will recall Title 42. He will help us have real asylum.”

“Now we need him to keep his promise,” the migrant said.

The caravan is currently close to 10,000 migrants and it could become the largest ever to reach the U.S. southern border.

It is expected to reach 15,000 migrants. The migrants mostly come from Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua.

The caravan’s organizer, Luis Villagran, told Fox News: “We consider we are around 9,500, it measures 51/2 km from the start to the end, people keep on joining, in the first police check there were approx 100-150 national guard, INM, state police and let us through freely.”

The immigration system has been fundamentally broken under Joe Biden. Under Trump, Americans saw the lowest rate of illegal immigration in over 40 years.

Under Biden, we have seen the highest rate of illegal immigration over 60 years.

In just three days, border patrol has caught 131 lbs. of fentanyl, 26 lbs. of heroin, 13 lbs. of meth, 10 sex offenders, 3 gang members, 1 assassination suspect, 1 fugitive wanted for murder, and 3 agents assaulted. Border patrol also stopped 18 large groups, totaling 2,446 migrants.

Biden ended Trump’s “remain in Mexico” policy, which forced foreign nationals seeking to enter the U.S. through the southern border — illegally or without proper documentation — to be returned to Mexico. These individuals needed to wait in Mexico while their legal cases are adjudicated.

Biden, on the other hand, opened the flood gates and created a disaster. By removing this policy, it signaled that everyone can come through the border even if it’s illegally and without proper documentation. This border security program under Trump and kept migrants in Mexico as they awaited their hearings.

Biden and the Democrats falsely claimed President Trump was “racist” and “xenophobic” for his “remain in Mexico.” This was part of Trump’s effort to secure the U.S. southern border and stop the flood of illegal immigration. Trump’s key policy was called the Migrant Protection Protocols. It required migrant asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for their U.S. court hearings.

Under Trump, an estimated 68,000 migrants were returned to Mexico under the policy, according to the Department of Homeland Security. These individuals will need to wait in Mexico while their legal cases are adjudicated. This only impacted those attempting to enter illegally or without proper documentation.

Biden, on the other hand, allows migrant asylum seekers into the U.S. prior to court hearings, which many Republicans have opposed. The Democrat’s strategy of allowing migrants into the U.S. gives them the opportunity to disappear before their court hearings. As a result, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki recently confirmed that some illegal immigrants have received free cell phones so that they can be contacted and “checked on” in hopes that they don’t disappear within the U.S. before their court hearing.

The migrant’s comments come as the Biden administration continues its fight to end Title 42, a Trump-era rule that allows the U.S. to expel asylum seekers without the typical legal process. The policy was enacted early in the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to help prevent the virus from spreading, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announcing earlier this year that it planned to lift the order.

But a lawsuit filed by 24 states at least temporarily put plans to end the rule to a halt, with a Louisiana U.S. District Judge ruling that the restrictions can stay in place until the lawsuit is resolved. The states have argued that lifting the rule would lead to a “wave of illegal migration and drug trafficking.”

Critics have blamed the president for creating what has become a crisis at the southern border, arguing Biden’s reversal of Trump-era immigration policies has created an incentive for migrants to make the dangerous journey through Mexico to the U.S. border.
