The NFL is under fire for quickly jumping behind the latest far-left “social justice initiative” in America while remaining completely obvious to serious world affairs.

As war wages on between Ukraine and Russia, the world watches as Europe is on the brink of a nuclear holocaust.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly hidden his family members in an “underground city” in Siberia, which is a luxury hi-tech bunker designed for protection in the event of nuclear war.

Putin has also placed his nuclear forces on high alert. He is using his massive arsenal to send message to west to back off over Ukraine as the invasion continues.

As this alarming situation unfolds on the world stage, the NFL is holding its annual combine. In one of its social media posts, the NFL tweeted a video of Malik Willis with the caption “LAUNCH CODES” in full caps and a rocket emoji.

“It was dumb and that’s about all that really needs to be said,” David Hookstead of Daily Caller responded.

The NFL deleted the tweet after receiving backlash on social media.

Here’s a look at the video still available on Instagram:

Back in 2019, the NFL used a similar caption with “launch codes.”

“The only difference was that there wasn’t a huge war raging between major militaries,” Daily Caller notes.

Having said that, there’s no need for people to be outraged. Talking about the launch codes or dropping bombs is language regularly used in the passing game.

Should the NFL have had a bit more situational awareness? Sure, and that’s why the tweet is no longer up, but let’s not pretend like this is terrible.

It’s not and to pretend like it is a big deal is a waste of energy. It was dumb and that’s about all that really needs to be said.

Next time, the NFL should just read the room before firing off a tweet using military language during the largest war in Europe since WWII.
