Fact-Check: Former Miss Ukraine Poses with Airsoft Gun to Inspire People — Did NOT Join Ukrainian Military

A beauty queen from Ukraine posted inspirational images to social media.

“Everyone who crosses the Ukrainian border with the intent to invade will be killed!” former Miss Grand Ukraine Anastasia Lenna wrote to social media.

Anastasiia Lenna, who won the 2015 Miss Grand Ukraine competition, is holding an airsoft gun. Take a look:

Lenna won Ukraine’s 2015 representative in the Miss Grand International beauty contest.

“Our [Ukraine’s] army is fighting in such a way that NATO should apply for entry into Ukraine,” she joked in another post.

Lenna shared her photo to 75,000 followers. She called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “a true and strong leader.”

Since the launch of the invasion, the model has shared a string of posts on her Instagram story urging support and soliciting donations to the Ukrainian armed forces.

Lenna previously worked as a model and a public relations manager in Turkey, according to her Miss Grand International profile.

She reportedly speaks five languages and has worked as a translator.
