Pelosi Finally Reveals Whether She Will Run for Reelection in 2022

Facing terrible polling numbers and constant criticism from far-left members of her own party, it appeared that 81-year-old Nancy Pelosi would be calling it quits in 2022.

Pelosi was even overheard telling people she is not running for re-election, according to Human Events Senior Editor and former Navy intel officer Jack Posobiec.

She is also facing a lawsuit from former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows as a result of her witch hunt known as the Jan. 6 committee.

After much speculation, we finally have an answer. It appears the top Democrat doesn’t want to give up her power — at least for now.

“Put the rumors to rest,” writes senior reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere of CNN.

“Nancy Pelosi will be staying on as speaker at least through the midterms, will run for re-election to her House seat back in San Francisco,” he confirms.

This news comes as a surprise to many Americans who watched her for months refusing to say whether she would run for re-election. When asked during a CNN interview, she declined to answer.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey also delivered bad news to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The survey found that likely voters favor Republicans over Democrats by 13 points, 51%-38%.

Democrats are only favored over Republicans among younger voters, African Americans, Democrats, and liberals, the survey found. A huge 20-point gap exists among independents, which shows may support a Republican over a Democratic candidate by a margin of 48%-26%.

This gap is reportedly historic in the Rasmussen survey.

“A twenty-point margin of independents for Republicans?” RedState writer T. LaDuke asks. “In short, those numbers are pretty bad for Nancy and her crew.”

Perhaps the most concerning issue is whether Pelosi is mentally fit and capable to hold office and make important decisions in leading the legislative branch.

A recent 54-second clip of Pelosi showed her appearing to suffer to massive incoherent brain lapse on live TV.

Speaking from the podium, Pelosi was attempting to address a new bill that punishes China for its manifold human rights abuses.

Her shocking answer seemed to leave everyone confused.

There’s something really pathetic and unseemly about someone in their 80s still feeling the need to desperately hold onto power like this. And to be fair, there are some Republicans that play this game as well. For her part, Pelosi is incredibly wealthy. She has numerous grandchildren. What part of her life isn’t providing the necessary fulfillment so as to push her to cling to her role in Washington?

Forget term limits for a moment. This country needs age limits to hold federal office, and somewhere around 70 seems about right to me. It’s ironic and nonsensical that the government forces the retirement of airline pilots at age 65 but we let doddering, senile geriatrics actually make life and death decisions about the country every single day.

Still, Pelosi really had no choice but to announce another run here. If she were to retire next year, it would send a signal to other Democrats that the House is good and truly lost. You never want your top leader calling it quits during an election year you are already expected to lose. For Pelosi to say now, almost a year in advance, that she’s done would be to wave the white flag.

Of course, the House is good and truly lost, at least by my reading of the tea leaves. Given that, I leave open the possibility that Pelosi either decides not to run next summer or that she runs, wins her seat (because a cup of water with a D on it could win in San Francisco), and then resigns shortly after. It’s hard for me to imagine her sticking around to be dictated to by the GOP for another two years, especially given she’ll likely be defeated by someone else to become Minority Leader.

I could be wrong about that, though. Pelosi might actually just be this pathetically addicted to power and notoriety, even if that means her having to spend her last years in office suffering in the minority. If that’s the case, then you can expect her to not leave until her health completely fails, and she doesn’t seem far from that point at times.
