Herschel Walker, who is a former NFL running back, is officially entering into politics.
Walker declared his candidacy for the U.S. Senate in Georgia.
He looks to take down Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock in 2022.
Walker said, “Our country is at a crossroads, and I can’t sit on the sidelines anymore.”
“America is the greatest country in the world, but too many politicians in Washington are afraid to say that,” he continued.
“In the United States Senate, I will stand up for conservative values and get our country moving in the right direction. It is time to have leaders in Washington who will fight to protect the American Dream for everybody.”
“[W]here else could a poor kid from a small town in Georgia become valedictorian of his high school, earn the Heisman Trophy, play professional football, represent the United States in the Olympics, and become CEO of multiple companies?” he said.
“I have lived the American Dream, but I am concerned it is slipping away for many people.”

“Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the legendary Herschel Walker ran for the United States Senate in Georgia? He would be unstoppable, just like he was when he played for the Georgia Bulldogs, and in the NFL,” Trump said in a statement this spring. “He is also a GREAT person. Run, Herschel, run!”
The announcement comes after months of speculation and at the urging of former President Trump, whom Walker has been close friends with for decades.
In his statement, Walker spoke about how his life has been the embodiment of the American Dream but expressed concern about how possible that is for many Americans now.
Walker enters a field of GOP contenders that includes state Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black and military veterans Latham Saddler and Kelvin King. Former Sen. Kelly Loeffler, who lost to Warnock in the January runoff elections, has not ruled out running again.
Walker recently spoke out in the wake of left-wing protests during the National Anthem at the Olympics.
As a former athlete himself, Walker directly asked competitors, “If people don’t like the rules here, why are you here?”
Good question.
Do liberals have a response? Do you see a boat of Americans arriving in Cuba looking for refuge? Of course not.
Walker told Fox News, “When I started seeing the United States flag and started seeing the people, the uniform, all my teammates from all different sports coming into that stadium — it almost brought a tear to my eye when I started thinking of where I grew up as a boy in my little hometown, and now having the chance to represent the United States of America.”
“I couldn’t have been more proud of anything,” he added.
Walker also said, “People think I’m very harsh when I say this… This is the United States of America, and if people don’t like the rules here — and there’s no doubt we can make some things better — but if people don’t like the rules here, why are you here?”
Walker was part of the 1992 Olympics. He said it was “one of the proudest moments,” “coming from South Georgia and representing the United States.”
“All of my brothers and sisters were white, but I was [more proud] than anything. I would’ve died for that group over in France if I had to,” Walker said of the USA team. “[They were] my family. … I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I grew up in South Georgia — never, never could have dreamed of anything like that.”
