The support for continuing the impeachment of President Trump is in jeopardy due to how House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is stalling on officially handing off the responsibility to the Senate so they may proceed.
Several high ranking Democratic senators have reached out to media outlets to publicly announce that they are waiting for Pelosi to complete her part of the process. They have been waiting for the articles of impeachment for what they believe is an unbelievable amount of time.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) told to Politico “The longer it goes on the less urgent it becomes. So if it’s serious and urgent, send them over. If it isn’t, don’t send it over.”
The Independent senator from Maine, Angus King joined Feinstein, Doug Jones and Chris Coons have all told media outlets that they do not want Pelosi to hold up the process any longer.

The House of Representatives impeached Trump on two separate articles — for abuse of power and obstruction — on Dec. 18. Democrats accused Trump of abusing his office by pressuring the Ukrainian government to open up politically-charged investigations in exchange for concessions from the administration.
Pelosi has refused to send the articles to the Senate in hopes of forcing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to commit to allowing witnesses to be called at Trump’s eventual trial.
Democrats ideally want to hear from current and former administration officials like Mick Mulvaney, the acting White House chief of staff, and John Bolton, the former national security adviser. Mulvaney was reportedly directly involved in discussions regarding U.S. military aid to
Ukraine. Bolton reportedly voiced concerns to other officials regarding the administration’s actions towards Ukraine.Pelosi’s strategy crumbled Tuesday when McConnell told his fellow Republicans on Tuesday that he had enough votes to proceed with the trial without committing to calling witnesses.
Some senators have told the media that they were ready to start the trial on the day the initial vote was held. Part of the reason for their impatience is that there are several Democrats in the Senate that will have difficult re-elections to win and this trial could potentially impact the support in their districts.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has stated that he believes that Pelosi is stalling to pressure the Republicans to make a deal and even teased the issues within the Democratic Party by reading quotes from Democratic senators that are growing impatient with Pelosi’s delay tactics.
