President Trump took to Twitter early on Thursday morning to address the reality of his Wednesday night impeachment.

With both articles of impeachment passing without any Republican support—making it the most partisan impeachment in U.S. history—Trump became the third U.S. president to be impeached.

“I got Impeached last night without one Republican vote being cast with the Do Nothing Dems on their continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt in American history,” the president tweeted. “Now the Do Nothing Party want to Do Nothing with the Articles & not deliver them to the Senate, but it’s Senate’s call!”

“Pelosi feels her phony impeachment HOAX is so pathetic she is afraid to present it to the Senate, which can set a date and put this whole SCAM into default if they refuse to show up! The Do Nothings are so bad for our Country!” he also tweeted.

In another tweet, the president said that Democrats were not actually after him but were after the American people and he was in the way.

“SUCH ATROCIOUS LIES BY THE RADICAL LEFT, DO NOTHING DEMOCRATS. THIS IS AN ASSAULT ON AMERICA, AND AN ASSAULT ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!” he added in another tweet.

The president also responded to Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib who celebrated the impeachment vote in a video online.

While House Speaker Nancy Pelosi remarked the impeachment vote was difficult for her and her party members—remarking the day was “solemn”—Tlaib and others laughed and celebrated their political action.

The president also joined a chorus of Republican members who scrutinized their Democratic colleagues for impeaching Trump over a crime former Vice President Joe Biden committed.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell delivered a speech Thursday morning on the floor of the Senate critical of House Democrats and their vote to impeach President Trump.

McConnell spoke at length about the entirely partisan vote, describing it as “the most rushed, least thorough, and most unfair impeachment inquiry in modern history.”

He said their actions have resulted in the “first purely partisan impeachment since the wake of the Civil War.” The Kentucky Republican also noted there was bipartisan opposition to impeachment.

“The House’s conduct risks deeply damaging the institutions of American government,” he said per CNN.

“This particular House of Representatives has let its partisan rage at this particular President create a toxic new precedent that will echo well into the future,” he added.
