CNN’s Chris Cuomo Apologizes For Telling Kamala Harris He Uses Female Pronouns At CNN’s LGBTQ Town Hall

CNN host Chris Cuomo is being forced to apologize for a joke he made during Thursday night’s CNN LGBTQ town hall where he said he too identified with feminine pronouns “she, her, hers.”

The comment was made shortly after Cuomo greeted Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on stage, the Washington Examiner reports.

Harris opened her remarks saying she identified using feminine pronouns and Cuomo jokingly responded, “Mine, too.”

Harris, a former San Francisco district attorney and two-term California state attorney general, spoke about racial differences experienced within the gay community, adding that her first campaign manager was Jim Rivoldo, who headed Harvey Milk’s campaign. Milk became California’s first openly gay elected official when he won his race to become a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1978.

Harris’ appearance on the program was interrupted by a studio audience member concerned about violence against transgender people.

“You’re right,” Harris said.

Cuomo issued an apology for his words later in the evening where he described himself as “an ally of the LGBTQ community.”

“PLEASE READ: When Sen. Harris said her pronouns were she her and her’s, I said mine too. I should not have. I apologize,” he wrote in a tweet sent out just after 10:00 pm on Thursday evening.

“I am sorry because I am committed to helping us achieve equality. Thank you for watching our townhall,” he added.
