Hillary On 2016 Loss: ‘Maybe I Wasn’t As Loose Or Open As I Could Have Been’

Twice failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton recently emerged from a political hiatus and said she wished to put the past behind her in joining “the resistance” in an effort to beat President Trump in 2020.

While Clinton is not a candidate in the race, she said she intends to do everything she can to defeat the man who defeated her in 2016.

But, since rejoining the political fray, nearly all Clinton has been able to talk about was her 2016 loss.

Take, for example, her interview this week on ABC’s The View when she expressed yet another reason for why she believes she lost.

“You know, I’m a serious person but I’m also a fun person but I think I probably came across as too serious,” Clinton said during the segment per the Washington Examiner.

“I really believed that my job, especially as a woman and the first woman to go as far as I did, that I had to help people feel good about a woman in the Oval Office, a woman commander in chief,” she continued. “And, so, I may have overcorrected a little bit because sometimes people say, ‘Why can’t you be like that or why weren’t you like that.’ I did feel a heavy sense of responsibility and it was such that, you know, maybe I wasn’t as loose or open as I could have been. I take responsibility for everything I didn’t do as well or my campaign didn’t do as well.”

The Washington Examiner adds:

The 2016 presidential contender then pivoted to blame the large part of her loss on things outside of her control including interference by Russia. Clinton, 71, was the first woman to be nominated by a major party as their presidential nominee. She lost to Trump in 2016 by 306 electoral votes to 232.
