Former NFL running back and ex-Arkansas star Peyton Hillis is in critical condition after saving his children from drowning in the ocean.
Hillis and his family were on vacation in Florida when the incident happened.

His Uncle Greg provided an update to Facebook that said, “I just wanted to let everyone know on Razorback Nation that Peyton is doing better.”
“He’s still in intensive care and having some kidney and lung problems, but doctors say he is improving.”

Hillis played for the Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns Browns, Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants.

Hillis took off in a big way during his first season with Cleveland. He carried the ball 270 times for 1,177 yards (4.4 average) and 11 touchdowns. He caught 611 passes for 477 yards and two touchdowns that season.
During his career, Hillis had 2,832 rushing yards and averaged 4.1 yards per carry across 81 games. He had 1,050 receiving yards and scored 26 total touchdowns.

Prior to his time in the NFL, Hillis played at Arkansas from 2004-08. He had 203 carries for 959 yards (4.7 average) and 12 touchdowns across four seasons. He also made a major impact in the receiving game, catching 118 passes for 1,195 yards (10.1 average) and 11 touchdowns.
Out of Conway (Ark.) High, Hillis was a four-star prospect from the Class of 2004. He predates 247Sports’ rankings, but the industry-generated 247Sports Composite ranked him as the No. 119 player and No. 2 fullback. He was also the No. 2 player from Arkansas.
