Kari Lake Finally Scores a Win Against Katie Hobbs

Kari Lake recently lost her lawsuit challenging the 2022 election in Arizona, but she did score two wins against Democrat Governor-elect Katie Hobbs.

Judge Peter Thompson dismissed the lawsuit because it did not meet the necessary criteria for the election to be overturned.

Admittedly, it can be difficult to prove intent ballots were handed improperly or tampered with.

At the same time, Lake scored a victory because the judge refused Hobbs’ request to have Lake sanctioned for challenging the election.

Although Lake did not provide clear and convincing evidence, she also did not reach the standard for sanctions to be imposed.

The judge also refused Hobb’s request that Lake and her legal team should pay her attorneys’ fees in the election lawsuit.

Hobbs will need to pay her own legal bills.

“There is no doubt that each side believes firmly in its position with great conviction,” Thompson said.

Lake utilized laws allowing for the challenging of elections, and that is why they exist.

Although Lake did not meet the legal requirements necessary to overturn the election, it is still believed there were and are major issues.

Sanctioning Lake would have amounted to a stamp of approval for a system that melted down in more ways than one. Maricopa County is the poster child for why so many people don’t trust our election processes, and there should be accountability for that.

Unfortunately, Hobbs will almost certainly do nothing to clean up the mess, which is a real shame. Heck, I’d expect her to exacerbate the problem.

But hey, that’s what Arizonans voted for if the totals are to be believed, and they are going to get it good and hard. Will that finally wake up enough voters, so these razor-thin margins aren’t a factor in 2024 and 2026? I guess we’ll find out.
