Professional race car driver Kenneth Block died in a snowmobile accident in Utah. Block was 55 years old and, at the time, was riding alone.

The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a snowmobile accident.

The police statement said, “The driver, Kenneth Block, a 55-year-old male from Park City, Utah, was riding a snowmobile on a steep slope when the snowmobile upended, landing on top of him.”

“He was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.”

Hoonigan Industries, which block cofounded, tweeted, “It’s with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today.”

“Ken was a visionary, a pioneer, an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed.”.

He is survived by his wife and three children.

Block shared photographs from his ranch in Utah several days ago, which featured images of snowmobiles, although it was unclear if any of those snowmobiles were used in the accident.

“This is how some mornings at my ranch in Utah look this time of year – freshly coated with snow!” Block tweeted. “Luckily, we have the Ski-doo sleds, @CanAm Mavericks (one on tracks!) and Defender, and the Kubota machinery to dig us out and keep the property maintained.”
