During an appearance on Newsmax, legal experts Victoria Toensing and Joe diGenova said the January 6 Select House Committee “has no authority” to recommend charges against former President Donald Trump and his staff to the Justice Department.

Democrat chairman of the committee Bennie Thompson, even admitted to CNN that their recommendation for criminal charges was symbolic.

Legal experts agree that the vote was merely symbolic and that Attorney General Merrick Garland should ignore the recommendation.

Garland should “refuse any indictment,” legal experts told Newsmax.

The experts say that it’s clear Trump and his White House staff did not commit any crimes by allegedly interfering with the peaceful transfer of power or inciting a mob.

Nancy Pelosi’s January 6th select committee voted to refer former President Donald Trump for criminal charges.

One of the charges, if convicted, would bar him from becoming president again.

Members of the committee voted for the four referrals during a hearing in Washington.

They unanimously voted to refer insurrection, obstruction of an official proceeding, making a false statement to the federal government, and conspiracy to defraud the federal government to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Ultimately, prosecutors will determine whether to act on the recommendations.

Trump responded by saying, “These folks don’t get it that when they come after me, people who love freedom rally around me.”

“It strengthens me. What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger.”

“Americans know that I pushed for 20,000 troops to prevent violence on Jan 6, and that I went on television and told everyone to go home,” Trump said.

“Think of it! The Radical Left Democrats (Communists), SPIED on my campaign, lied to the FISA COURT, lied to CONGRESS, allowed an INVASION of our COUNTRY on the Southern Border…”

Trump said, “And I’m the one that the Corrupt and Partisan Unselect Committee goes after.”

“A two tiered ‘Justice’ System. And, by the way, what ever happened with the Massive number of CRIMES committed by JOE & HUNTER BIDEN?”

Trump concluded, “They’re right there, documented and 100% certain. Also, where is the prosecutor from Delaware? What happened to him?”

“Is he friends with the Ukrainian Prosecutor who didn’t prosecute after Biden held up the $BILLION PAYMENT to Ukraine? I DID NOTHING WRONG!” Trump concluded.

Democrat Rep. Bennie Thompson, chairman of the panel, said they voted for “accountability” for Trump.

“Accountability can only be found in the criminal justice system,” Thompson said.

He continued, “We have every confidence that the work of this committee will help provide a roadmap to justice and that the agencies and the institutions responsible for ensuring justice under the law will use the information that we provided to aid in their work.”
