It’s been a historic summer for all of the wrong reasons under the failed policies of Joe Biden and the Democrats.
A total of 78 individuals on the terror watchlist were caught at the U.S. southern boarder this year. In August alone, a dozen terrorists were caught at the border. These individuals are identified on the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB).
To put this horrific discovery in perspective, 78 terrorists is triple the previous five fiscal years — combined. The most terrifying and unknown statistic of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is the number of terrorists who crossed the southern border undetected.
These individuals are either “known terrorists” or “reasonably suspected” by the FBI of being involved in terrorist activities.
This evidence further demonstrates how the immigration system has been fundamentally broken under Joe Biden.
Under Trump, Americans saw the lowest rate of illegal immigration in over 40 years.
Under Biden, we have seen the highest rate of illegal immigration over 60 years.
Biden ended Trump’s “remain in Mexico” policy, which forced foreign nationals seeking to enter the U.S. through the southern border — illegally or without proper documentation — to be returned to Mexico. These individuals needed to wait in Mexico while their legal cases are adjudicated.
Biden, on the other hand, opened the flood gates and created a disaster. By removing this policy, it signaled that everyone can come through the border even if it’s illegally and without proper documentation. This border security program under Trump and kept migrants in Mexico as they awaited their hearings.
During interviews, people who made up large caravans in Mexico told the media to “tell Biden that we’re coming.” The failing left-wing socialist regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba are pushing more and more people to the U.S.

While that is just a small percentage of the hundreds of thousands of migrants who hit the border each month, and it shows those who have been successfully caught by Border Patrol agents, it also does not include those who may have been among the over 500,000 gotaways – illegal immigrants who slipped past Border Patrol agents – this fiscal year.
Republicans have pointed to the numbers to show the potential national security threat at the border and the need for greater border security. Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee had pushed for the numbers to again be made public before the Biden administration eventually started putting them on the CBP website in May.
Meanwhile, there have so far been 342 encounters of known or suspected terrorists by CBP agents at ports of entry along the north and southern borders. Of those, 63 were at the southern border and 279 at the northern border. That is the highest number since FY’19, when there were 538 such encounters.
The latest numbers come as CBP announced there were 203,598 migrant encounters at the southern border in August overall, an increase from the 199,976 encountered in July and lower than the 209,840 encountered in August last year.
