Joe Biden is very unhappy with multiple Supreme Court rulings in recent weeks.
Beginning with the high court’s ruling on gun rights that struck down a New York law restricting access to concealed carry permits, Biden said he is “deeply disappointed.”
New York was requiring Americans to have a specific reason for needing a firearml Lawmakers refused to allow Americans to simply say they wished to protect themselves or their property. This reason was good enough for liberals in New York, but fortunately the Supreme Court saw things differently.
Biden reacted, “Since 1911, the State of New York has required individuals who would like to carry a concealed weapon in public to show a need to do so for the purpose of self-defense and to acquire a license.”
“More than a century later, the United States Supreme Court has chosen to strike down New York’s long-established authority to protect its citizens,” he continued. “I urge states to continue to enact and enforce commonsense laws to make their citizens and communities safer from gun violence.”
Biden also spoke out about the high court’s ruling that overturns Roe v. Wade.
Biden says Congress must restore the abortion protections of Roe v. Wade by codifying abortion rights into federal law.
He claimed Roe v. Wade protected “a woman’s right to choose” and “her right to make intensely personal decisions with her doctor, free from interference of politics.”

Biden said Roe v. Wade “reaffirmed basic principles of equality that women have the power to control their own destiny, and to reinforce the fundamental right of privacy.”
The president also said Roe v. Wade “was a correct decision” on a “complex matter through a careful balance between a woman’s right to choose.”
“Let me be very clear and unambiguous: the only way we can secure a woman’s right to choose—the balance that existed—is for Congress to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade as federal law,” Biden said. “No executive action from the president can do that.”
The president said voters “need to make their voices heard” in November’s midterm elections, saying they “must elect more senators, representatives who will codify a woman’s right to choose in the federal law once again.”
