Computer Company Intel Apologizes to China After Opposing Region Using Slaves to Manufacture Nearly Every Product, Experts Say

It appears some American companies are still refusing to stand up to China despite disturbing allegations of horrific human rights violations.

Experts say that nearly every manufactured product in Xinjiang, China is guaranteed to have been made by slaves.

Xinjiang (pronounced shin-jaang) is located in northwest China and home to many ethnic minority groups, including the Turkic Uyghur people.

U.S. Congress even passed the “Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act,” which awaits the signature of Joe Biden in order to become law.

This would ban imports into America from the Xinjiang region unless a company can provide hard evidence that those products were not made by slaves.

Intel, which manufactures computer chips and other computer-related products, initially released a statement that urged its Chinese suppliers not to source products from Xinjiang.

This was soon followed by an apology in Chinese text that signaled the company regretted its previous statement.

While Intel company officers have agreed on the record that China is guilty of genocide, the company’s apology seems to walk back these remarks.

Putting profits before people, some companies appear scared to criticize the communist dictatorship.

Intel said its statement urging suppliers to avoid East Turkistan caused “many questions and concerns among our cherished Chinese partners, and we deeply regret it.”

Intel Data Platforms Group Executive Vice President and General Manager Navin Shenoy said, “We apologize for the trouble caused to our respected Chinese customers, partners and the public.”

Continuing its statement published in Chinese text, it reads, “Intel is committed to becoming a trusted technology partner and accelerating joint development with China.”

Intel reportedly has deep ties to the Chinese government so this statement does not come as a huge surprise.

The Chinese government is even accused of using Intel computer chips to power a widespread surveillance system in East Turkistan.

This is allegedly meant to monitor Uyghur people and repress certain individuals.

Intel also supported the Olympic Partner Program in China, which funded the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Human rights activists and athletes have called for boycotting the Beijing Olympics to protest the ongoing genocide. Intel has reportedly rejected or ignored these calls for boycotts.
