Dems Back a $1.2 Trillion Infrastructure Bill, But Republicans Have One Simple Question

Democrats, and even some Republicans, have voted in support of a massive $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill.

However, many Republicans opposed the bill and had one simple question: “What the heck is in it?”

Republican U.S. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina explained, “I voted no on infrastructure a week ago because there was no legislative text.”

“My mind hasn’t changed,” Scott continued. “There’s still no legislative text or explanation on how to pay for a $1T infrastructure plan.”

“Where’s the full text,” the Fox News headline reads. The full text of the proposal has not been made public yet.

Tim Scott also argued there is no explanation on how to pay for the plan.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn of Texas expressed similar concerns. “I will not be voting for it until it’s written and we’ve seen the text,” Cornyn said.

Both the White House and Senate Republicans, however, released summaries stressing what they believe are key points of the package.

The 57-page GOP summary, as reported by The Associated Press, highlights how many of the items in the plan would be paid for – but still left skeptical Republicans seeking more details, the AP reported.

The White House summary, in contrast, focuses on how much money would be allocated for roads, bridges, public transit and other infrastructure goals.

Only 17 Senate Republicans joined all 50 Democrats in agreeing that the Senate should debate the measure – so the plan still faces significant GOP opposition after a vote that was considered just the first in several steps before the Senate ultimately decides whether to approve the plan.

Cheney says she believes some Republicans are “shameful.” Cheney explains further that she thinks Republicans are denying Donald Trump’s responsibility for the January 6 Capitol riot.

Now New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik has a new nickname for Cheney. According to Stefanik, Rep. Liz Cheney is working as a “Pelosi pawn” since she joined Pelosi’s Jan. 6 committee. The committee has been heavily criticized as an extremely partisan attempt to cherrypick the facts leading up to the events on Jan. 6th at the Capitol.

“And when it comes to Liz Cheney, she is a Pelosi Republican, a Pelosi pawn at this point,” Stefanik said. “She does not represent the Republican conference, or Republican voters or the American people. Pelosi bears responsibility because we know that as early as December, there was information and intelligence that there were potential security threats and that the Capitol was not going to be secure on January 6,” she said.

“Nancy Pelosi refused to act. We also know that on January 6, Nancy Pelosi was passed a note by the sergeant-at-arms, her political appointee, asking for her permission to bring in the National Guard. She hesitated,” Stefanik added.
