Romney Gets Nasty Wake-Up Call — Receives Only 4% of Votes in 2024 National Republican Primary Poll

A recent poll delivered bad news to Mitt Romney.

Romney received just 4% of voters who favor him as the current 2024 Republican presidential nominee.

Assuming former President Donald Trump does not run, most voters favor Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as the current 2024 Republican presidential nominee.

The poll was conducted by Echelon Insights. It fielded responses from 1,001 registered voters between June 18 to June 22.

The poll asked Republican voters, “If Donald Trump does NOT seek the Republican nomination for President in 2024 and the presidential primaries were being held today, for whom would you vote?”

DeSantis leads the pack, winning 21 percent of support. The Florida governor was followed by former Vice President Mike Pence at 14 percent, Donald Trump, Jr. at 7 percent, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley at 6 percent, and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at 6 percent.

Back in February at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), 55 percent of attendees indicated Trump was their preferred 2024 nominee. DeSantis came in at 21 percent. In a June straw poll at the Western Conservative Summit, DeSantis edged out Trump by 10 votes.

A report last month alleged a feud was brewing between the two political heavyweights over the Florida governor asking Trump to postpone a rally of his 200 miles from where bodies were excavated at the destroyed seaside condominium. DeSantis press secretary Christina Pushaw said shortly after the report was false.

Former President Donald Trump has officially endorsed Ken Paxton over George P. Bush in the state’s Republican attorney general primary.

Trump said Paxton is a “true Texan who will keep Texas safe” and praised the attorney general for his stances on crime, guns, border security and “election integrity.”

“Attorney General Ken Paxton has been bravely on the front line in the fight for Texas, and America, against the vicious and very dangerous Radical Left Democrats, and the foolish and unsuspecting RINOs that are destroying our Country,” Trump continued. “It is going to take a PATRIOT like Ken Paxton to advance America First policies in order to Make America Great Again,” Trump said.

This decision snubs the Bush family. George P. Bush is the son of Trump’s former GOP primary rival Jeb Bush. Jeb Bush was heavily critical of Trump and notoriously chose not to endorse Trump for president in 2016.
