Donald Trump won the CPAC straw poll for the hypothetical 2024 election, according to Fox News.

However, the “real story” is how far former vice president Mike Pence has fallen in support, according to Kyle Becker of BeckerNews.

Trump won with 49 points while Florida governor Ron DeSantis came in second place with 21%.

Everyone else placed extremely low.

Rand Paul received 1% as well as Nikki Haley, Ted Cruz, Tucker Carlson, Kristi Noem, and Mike Pompeo.

Mike Pence, though? He received 0%.

During another major conference, th Western Conservative Summit in June, Trump actually lost to DeSantis.

Here were the results of the Western Conservative Summit poll:

  • Ron DeSantis — 74.12%
  • Donald Trump — 71.43%
  • Ted Cruz — 42.86%
  • Mike Pompeo — 39.35%
  • Tim Scott — 35.58%
  • Kristi Noem — 29.92%
  • Tom Cotton — 29.92%
  • Rand Paul — 27.76%
  • Donald Trump Jr. — 24.8%
  • Mike Pence — 21.56%
  • Josh Hawley — 20.22%
  • Dan Crenshaw — 20.22%
  • Nikki Haley — 19.14%
  • More from BeckerNews:

“The top five candidates, in order of most approval to least, were: Ron DeSantis (74%), Donald Trump (71%), Sen. Ted Cruz (43%), Mike Pompeo (39%) and Sen. Tim Scott (36%),” the summit’s press release stated. “Former Vice President Pence came in tenth place.”

A CPAC straw poll conducted earlier this year pitted the candidates head-to-head. Donald Trump came out on top as 55% of respondents said that they would vote for the former president, followed by 21% for DeSantis, and 4% for South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem.

The 45th president has increased his support among the CPAC faithful after a string of strong public appearances, including rallies in Ohio and Florida, as well as a drop-in at UFC that drew chants of ‘USA! USA!’

As much as the political establishment would like Donald Trump to go away, it looks like he is as popular as ever among the conservative base. It has to be a surprise to those who are trying to be rid of Trump, that he continues to be a survivor no matter how much they attack him.
