The shooting of 14-year Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt during the Jan. 6 Capital riot has been a hot topic lately.

The shooter’s identity has still not officially been confirmed, however Capitol Sergeant at Arms Timothy Blodgett appeared to drop the name during a recent hearing.

Since the day Babbitt was killed, the officer has reportedly been under protection and in hiding.

Well Trump appeared on Fox News over the weekend, and when he was asked about the shooter he provided some troubling new details he has heard about him.

According to Trump, he was told that the officer was the “head of security” for a top Democrat.

“By the way, while you’re at it, who shot Ashli Babbitt?” Trump asked Fox News host Maria Bartiromo.

“Why are they keeping that secret? Who is the person [who] shot an innocent wonderful, incredible woman, a military woman, right in the head and there’s no repercussion. If that were the other side it would be the biggest story in this country. Who shot Ashli Babbitt? People want to know and why.”

Bartiromo then asked Trump if he had heard anything about the rumors regarding the officer being on security detail for a top Democratic member of Congress.

Trump responded by saying, ““I have heard that.”

“I will tell you they know who shot Ashli Babbitt, they’re protecting that person, I’ve heard also it was the head of security for a certain high official, a Democrat, ” Trump stated.

“We’ll see, it is going to come out, it is going to come out, what happened to Ashli Babbitt and what’s happening currently to people that are incarcerated.”

Here’s a clip from the segment:

Fox News host Maria Bartiromo said they reached out to Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to ask if he heard anything about Babbitt’s shooter, but that Schumer’s office had not responded.

She asked Trump what he may know about any information Schumer may have, but Trump kept his focus on the double standard at play in America, a two-tiered system of justice, stressing that it’s “not right” that so many people arrested for their role on Jan. 6 are not being released from jail before trial. There have been over 500 people arrested, many charged with little more than trespassing, yet 6 months later, a large number languish in jail as the media pushed a contrived insurrection narrative.

As for any notion that the officer may have been on Schumer’s detail, the liberal media wasted little time running interference for such an idea, as seen from Forbes political reporter Andrew Solender:

Trump has been more vocal recently following a stint of not saying much following leaving the White House.

He has not officially confirmed if he will be running again in 2024, however he has teased a potential run multiple times.

At the Conservative Political Action Conference over the weekend a straw poll was taken of who should receive the 2024 Republican nomination.

Trump won by a landslide, with DeSantis coming in a distant second.
