Atlanta police office Garrett Rolfe, a seven-year veteran of the department, was fired “within just 24 hours” after shooting Rayshard Brooks, the NY Post reports.

Rolfe was recently trained on de-escalation tactics, but the situation still escalated as Rolfe is seen on video footage resisting arrest and allegedly stealing the officer’s taser.

Devin Brosnan, another officer who was with Rolfe, was put on administrative leave during the investigation.

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms insisted the shooting was not a “justified use of deadly force.”

The officers’ boss, Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields, also resigned over the fatal incident.

The Atlanta Police Department has released officer bodycam and dashcam video of the events leading up to the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks on Friday night, Fox News reports.

The footage shows Officers Garrett Rolfe and Devin Brosnan speaking to Brooks for nearly 30 minutes on suspicion of DUI.

The officers conducted a field sobriety test that Brooks allegedly failed.

Brooks is seen being questioned by officers, and he tells them he had only one drink, a martini, earlier in the day. He later appears to tell officers that he had a couple, or one and a half drinks, saying he had a daiquiri.

Brooks tells officers he is on Old Dixie Highway in Forest Park, about 10 miles from his actual location on University Ave. in Atlanta.

The officers administer several field sobriety tests, and the bodycam image clearly shows a breathalyzer registers a blood alcohol level of .108. The legal limit is .08.

A video taken at the scene shows the two officers unsuccessfully try to detain Brooks, wrestling on the ground for about 30 seconds. At one point, one of the officers brandishes a taser and attempts to use it but Brooks grabs it and gains control of it. The other officer pulls out a taser and successfully hits Brooks but it has no effect.

Brooks then stands to his feet and runs away from the two officers when he was shot three times as the video appears to show him pointing the taser at police.

TMZ reports: “He was taken to a hospital where he died during surgery.”

Additional details surrounding the shooting are unclear. The GBI said one of the APD officers suffered minor injuries … he was treated at the hospital and released.

Several bystanders witnessed the incident and were enraged and yelled at the cops moments after the shooting.

The officers have reportedly been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Hill reports.

Per the report: “A Georgia state agency is investigating a fatal shooting involving an Atlanta police officer as protests rile the country over police use of force and systemic racism.”

“The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced Saturday that it was asked by the Atlanta Police Department (APD) to investigate the shooting of 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks, who was shot by a police officer Friday night,” the report continued.

A video showing the events as they unfolded has been shared by several people online (Caution: The video shows the grapple with police and is somewhat graphic in nature. It does not show the gunfire):
