Secretary of State Mike Pompeo appeared on Sunday’s broadcast of ABC’s “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos.
After a U.S. drone strike killed Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad events continue to unfold.
Stephanopoulos read a tweet from President Trump that threatened Iran if they retaliate against the U.S. for the killing of Soleimani.
He then asked, “So why is the President threaten Iran with war crimes?”
Pompeo explained how previous administrations have led us to this point with Iran.
Stephanopoulos played a video clip of former vice-president Joe Biden saying”…President Trump has no authority to take us to a military conflict with Iran, period.”
Pompeo responded saying that the Trump administration is cleaning up the “mess” the Obama administration created in Iran.
More from Breitbart News:

STEPHANOPOULOS: Will the president go to Congress before taking new military action against Iran?
POMPEO: Boy, it’s really something to hear the vice-president from the previous administration be critical of this administration’s policy of Iran.
We’re having to clean up their mess, George.
We’ll do everything required under the law to bring us into compliance with all the relevant constitutional legal provisions with respect to our duties to the legislative branch.
