BREAKING: Former Pres. Jimmy Carter Fractured Pelvis After Falling In His Home

Former President Jimmy Carter has been rushed to the hospital after a fall in his home Monday evening resulted in a fractured pelvis.

Carter Center spokeswoman Deanne Congileo said the former president is in “good spirits” after the minor fracture, the Associated Press reports.

Carter, who turned 95 years old this year, has fallen several times at his Plains, Georgia home.

“He first fell in the spring and required hip replacement surgery. Carter fell again this month and despite receiving 14 stitches, traveled the next day to Nashville, Tennessee to rally volunteers and help build a Habitat for Humanity home,” the Associated Press reports.

It continued: “Carter is the oldest living former president in U.S. history. He and 92-year-old Rosalynn recently became the longest-married first couple, surpassing George and Barbara Bush, with more than 73 years of marriage.”

The Carter Center released a statement saying, “Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter had a fall yesterday evening at his home in Plains, GA. He has been admitted to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center for observation and treatment of a minor pelvic fracture. He is in good spirits and is looking forward to recovering at home.”
