Suspect Detained After Incendiary Device Ignites Outside New York Federal Building

A man was taken into custody Monday morning after an incendiary device was set off outside 26 Federal Plaza in New York City, the site of a major federal immigration enforcement facility.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Authorities reported that two people suffered minor injuries. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that the individual “deployed an incendiary device” and that the Joint Terrorism Task Force was investigating.

Witness accounts and video indicated the suspect used fireworks loaded into a wagon displaying a sign that read “ICE off our streets.” Department of Homeland Security officials later stated that an anti-ICE individual launched fireworks that grazed a bystander, then poured what appeared to be gasoline on the entrance stairs and set them on fire.

A Federal Protective Service officer quickly tackled and detained the person, sustaining minor injuries in the process. The suspect’s identity had not been publicly released as of the latest updates.
